Walking Stick, Make your own

I have one of those nice natural wood hiking staffs that are sold in outdoor supply stores. It is always with me on day hikes, especially when a lot of people are present. I get a lot of compliments on it and it makes good conversation.

Walking Stick - Caveman style

The local forest ranger posted a warning sign at the entrance to our trail showing a color picture of a big cat...but the gun laws in California are getting vague and squirrelly about firearms regulations. Instead, in true Backwoods Home spirit, I came up with a self-reliant alternative. A stout walking stick that could also do double duty as a spear. That is right folks, caveman technology for the new millennium.
