Trellis, Vine (PDF) Also known as an obelisk. Modeled after the vine trellises in Europe, this “tuteur” not only looks great, but also provides a place for vines to grow and be protected. Trellis, Garden - Build your own Level of difficulty: Beginner - Use this trellis to support climbing plants and make a vertical garden out of a blank wall. The design can be altered to fit different-size walls while keeping its pleasing proportions. The four narrow modules are simpler to make than a single large trellis. Hung on L-hangers, they’re easy to remove when you need to paint the wall behind.

Trellis, Property Entrance (PDF) There is nothing like an entry archway or trellis to add impact to your property, regardless of its style or age. Trellis (PDF) A trellis can function as a unique sunscreen or can be the framework for an outdoor hanging garden. And building it with pressure-treated Southern Pine lumber adds durability to its beauty. The waterborne preservative is nonleachable and will not harm plants.
|
Trellis to an Arbor, Adding A Lattice panels are used to create the trellis portion of an arbor-and-trellis. Most building centers carry cedar, pressure-treated, and vinyl lattice in 2-ft. × 8-ft. and 4-ft. × 8-ft. panels. Standard lattice panels are 3/4” thick. For a more customized look, you can build your own lattice panels from exterior-rated lumber.

Trellis, Garden Obelisks are easy to build if your design is right. I’ve used proportions that eliminate the need to cut confusing compound mitres, while still yielding a terrific finished product for your yard or garden. This obelisk has two main sections. It has a planter box on the bottom, and a tall, thin pyramid-shaped frame up above, which gives you a place to start plants and provides room for them to grow upward. Before you start building, think about what materials you’ll use.
|
Trellis Trio Place the trellises close together for maximum mass and privacy. Angle them like half-open shutters to soften a corner of your yard. Or, put them in parallel rows to make an open-roofed arbor.

But before long, the copper will age to a blue-green color that will add an interesting contrast to the oil-finished wood. It includes step-by-step instructions, 20 detailed drawings, along with a materials list and cutting diagram.
