31-MD-00113 - Segmented Lathe Bowl Woodworking Plan
We have long admired Ray Allens stunning segmented bowls. So we asked the Yuma, Arizona, turner to show us (and you) how to make one. While watching Ray build a segmented bowl blank, we quickly uncovered the secret to his success-painstaking precision. Whether he is constructing a 6 inch bowl like this one or one of his larger pieces, Ray makes sure every segment fits perfectly. Here are the steps to follow; the precision is up to you.Wood and Supplies needed: We used curly maple, imbuya, maple veneer, and black veneer, but you can use a wood of your choice. A full materials and supplies list is included with the plan. Tools needed: Table saw, band saw, planer, lathe, clamps, nd common woodturning tools. Also available is a downloadable version of this plan: We also have available a downloadable PDF plan, 31-DP-00113, that you can download, save and print from your computer immediately after your purchase. PDF plans cheaper in this series plus you save the shipping cost and wait time! Click here to read our FAQ on how to download a PDF plan in 4 easy steps!
