 | Cupola, Distinctive The heat that builds up in your attic during warm weather makes it more difficult and expensive to cool your home. A cupola helps to reduce heat load by natural convection. Cool air is drawn in through soffit vents while the hot air is exhausted out through louvers in the cupola side panels. This is a project that can easily be completed in a weekend and will pay back big benefits by reducing the need for air conditioning. And it will give you a perfect spot to mount a weathervane! | Captivating Cupola Woodworking Plan When we moved to a new home not long ago, one of the things that struck me was how hot and stuffy the garage was during the summer. To do something about it, I designed and built this cupola to provide ventilation as well as add some charm to the otherwise ordinary-looking structure. Working with copper for the roof was a new experience for me, but I found it was an easy material to shape. I screened the inside of the project to keep the bugs out, and added a weather vane (see the Buying Guide for my source) to further its good looks.

 | Cupola Oh boy a new project! We got a weather vane for Christmas and have been trying to figure out where and how to mount it. We finally decided to mount it on our wheelhouse on top of a cupola. Of course the first thing we need to do is design and build a cupola. After researching many sites on the web we did not find any free plans for one so we had to make our own. We hope you enjoy this project and the free plans that come with it.
