Mushrooms, Turning
People like mushrooms. I am not sure why, but they are a steady seller for me at craft fairs. One of the reasons is that I turn a lot of small ones to sell at about $3.00 each.

Needle Threader
This Magnifying Glass/Needle Threader/Necklace would make a delightful gift or an affordable extravagance for someone who sews. It is quite simple to make, as the turning is little different than turning a pen. It does require a little mix and match of kit parts and drilling a hole in the key chain mechanism.

Mirror, Hand - turned on a lathe
Although rewarding, a hand mirror is not a very difficult item to make. It should be within the scope of those turners with intermediate skills who have mastered the basic principles of spindle turning and obtained a reasonable amount of confidence with a bowl gouge. The piece is made from four parts: the head, the handle, a small piece of dowel to join them together, and the mirror.

Candlesticks
This article originally appeared in the Fall 98 edition of American Woodturner vol. 13, issue 3. The following text may vary slightly, as I am using my original version, not the edited version found in the magazine (although they are very close) because I do not have an electronic version of it. I have also used some different and additional photos.

Turning Tool, Making a
To make most tools you need to be able to turn a handle, drill a hole, cut a piece of steel, tap the hole in the steel, and put it all together. Since tapping is no harder than driving a screw, you have probably done all this. We just have to put it all together and make a tool.
