Router Base Plate
By Gord Graff - A friend recently complained that his Hitachi M12V did not have a large enough throat to accommodate the larger horizontal panel raising bits. It is a simple process to cut the offending template bushing ears off but what if you wanted to use a template bushing after removing these ears? Rather than try to explain my remedy for this obstacle over the phone I decided to put it in picture form. I hope that it helps others who may have the same issues.

Raised Panels on the Tablesaw (PDF)
Australian Woodsmith is a practical magazine for all woodworkers. From Issue 31. One of the drawer options for the filing cabinets in Woodsmith No. 32 was to make the false fronts with raised panels instead of flat panels. I like to cut raised panels with the table saw, and there are a couple of thing, I do to end up with smooth, clean bevels and shoulders.

Featherboard, A New Kind of
I have always had problems with traditional finger-type featherboards. It is a real nuisance to discover that when the featherboard is applying enough pressure to hold the workpiece securely, it is hard to push the wood through the blade. I finally came up with a couple of alternatives that hold the stock tightly, yet do not resist forward movement. A further very big advantage of these jigs is that they permit safe climb cutting on the router table for unusual situations or for wood that has a tendency to splinter.

Jig, Indexing
Featherboards are a great way to hold a workpiece firmly against a fence or table surface. But there is more to a featherboard than just sawing kerfs in the end of a board. The problem is cutting evenly-spaced kerfs so the fingers flex just the right amount. With the indexing jig shown below, cutting the kerfs is easy and accurate.

Table, Colonial Drop Leaf End
Early New Englanders adopted the drop leaf table in an effort to make their furniture less cumbersome. The wing supports gradually took on a faint resemblance to the graceful wings of a butterfly, and from this basic form of construction came scores of modifications in small tables. The one shown here is simplicity itself, yet attractive and at home in almost any setting.

Jig, Tapering Tablesaw
When it came time to make the thick, tapered legs, I needed a way to make a long, angled cut quickly and accurately. But I also wanted to make sure the taper on both legs ended up identical. So, I made a simple taper jig. The jig makes it easy to position the leg at the correct angle and hold it in place during the cut (see photo at this link).
