Jig, Ball Cutting My final design actually gave me the potential to Turn a Ball of 180mm diameter [7 inches] and I could have added another layer of the 20mm MDF to the base and still had the capability for a 160mm diameter Ball [+6 inches], of course if your requirement is for a larger capacity then you will need to adjust the dimensions accordingly.

Jig, Faceplate Cutoff Fixture I turn almost all of my turnings glued to a faceplate. I usually part the turnings off the faceplate but I wanted to share a fixture that my friend Sonnie Sharrar uses to cut the faceplates off his bowls. The fixture in the photos is a bit different than Sonnie’, but I tend to turn larger bowls and this fixture can handle them.

Jig, Parallax (PDF) After rejecting a couple of ideas about how to project a pattern onto the work while turning, I came up with this idea - make a jig to hold two copies if the plans, one cut along the finished contours and the other uncut, so that you can use the parallax effect to line up your eye correctly with the plans.
