Workbench, Heavy Duty (PDF) If you are the type of home craftsman who owns fine tools and wants to keep them organized and in good condition, this sturdy workbench with self-locking drawers is a worthwhile project. Six deep drawers will hold large electric tools like circular saws, sanders and drills. Three shallow drawers will keep smaller items like hand tools and fasteners in order. A unique feature of this bench is the simple, yet effective, self-locking mechanism for the drawers. Just shut the single center drawer, and all the other drawers securely lock. The 30-inch by 72-inch work surface is built up from layers of 3/4-inch plywood and is strong enough to hold any type of vise. Leg length can be adjusted to alter the height of the work surface to your preference. This 2.43MB PDF has 17 pages with full pattern templates that you can print onto 8-1/2 x 11 inch paper and easily match together to build this woodworking project.

But by making this table, you can use your belt sander to sand edge grain and end grain too! Since belt sanders come in many different sizes and configurations, this plan suggests how to alter the table to fit any belt sander which uses 21 or 24 inch belts either 3 or 4 inches wide. Some custom fitting will be required to fit your belt sander. Project is made from 1/2 inch plywood. All patterns drawn full size.

Drill Press Tool Stand (PDF) Most drill presses come with a table that’s not very practical for woodworking. They’re too small, and usually don not provide enough options for attaching a fence. Building your own table is the best solution. Our drill press table plan provides a large, flat work surface for drilling, a fence that’s easy to adjust, and plenty of attachment options. Plan also features a pull-out storage tray and dust collector attachment. This woodworking plan appeared in ShopNotes magazine No. 57.
