Table, Coffee Walnut There’s something that pleases a woodworker’s soul when you make a whole project from just one board. It’s really satisfying to study a big plank with all its problems, such as knots, sapwood and runout grain, and figure out how you’re going to cut it into smaller pieces (Photo 1). Thick, large boards are a luxury, though. You can certainly make this table from separate boards instead, using standard 1 and 2- in. thick wood.

Table, Coffee First I glued up 2 of the 4 foot boards to make the top. I had never glued anything up like this before so I clamped the best I could, but it turns out I need more clamps. Table, Coffee (PDF) This table is constructed of solid timber, however veneered particle board could be utilised for the top and end legs. When using solid timber there is a need for edge jointing boards. This will require 600mm long sash clamps. If using veneered particle board, you will need iron-on edge stripping to be applied to all raw edges or you could attach preshaped mouldings. In this case, ensure that off-the-shelf mouldings selected will colour match or species match the veneer. It may be sensible to select the mouldings first then match the veneered panelling. The following description is for solid wood construction.(Australia)
