Boat - Kayak, Folding These plans and instructions developed from plans of Jess Rathburn, Coordinator of Industrial Arts, San Francisco School District (Initial plans dated 1968, cost/instructions updated in 1972, 1984, 1997). This kayak weighs less than 40 pounds and will carry a full sized man. The cost of materials varies between $90 and $130 (1985 prices). This design is for a ten foot model. The same basic principles have proven successful in 8, 12, and 14 foot models, both one and two man models. Everything in the boat is held together with contact cement (contact cement is waterproof).
Boat, Sailing Scow (PDF) Build a Sailing Scow! Imagine the stares you will get as you pilot this downright sensible beauty along the shore. There is a lot of nice Popular Mechanics touches here like the curved prow, keeping the lines smooth and graceful. I think this is a plywood babe-magnet like no other.
Boat - Oarmouse I think this boat could be quite something – a fast 14ft one-man rower that comes out of two sheets of ply. Designed for flat water, you’ll notice that in order to reduce the fuss at the waterline to a minimum, I have worked the waterline at the design displacement so that it just kisses the chine.
Boat - Mouse Mouse started life as a one-sheeter, that is, an exercise to develop the smallest, cheapest possible boat. As a result, it’s not a boat to which you can safely trust your life in any sort of waves - as anyone who climbs into a Mouse will quickly realize.
Boat, Sail - Wildcat A sailboard rig is going to be a winner on looks and also efficiency, but everything else about this boat has got to look cool and be efficient too - in order to match that sail in the kids minds, even the daggerboard and rudder have got to have a little something about them. It also has to be a sit-on boat rather than a sit-in one. The basic dimensions close I have chosen are close to those of a couple of plastic mass-produced designs aimed at the young and intended for the same sort of purpose as here.
Boat, Flying Mouse Flying Mouse is an exercise to develop just about the smallest, cheapest possible sailing boat I can conceive. As a result, its not a boat to which you can safely trust your life in any sort of waves - as anyone who climbs into a Flying Mouse will quickly figure out.
Boat - Ensigns Gig - Swamp Thing Swamp Thing looks fairly sleek in some ways, but has low freeboard and holds only one person. We wanted to be able to go rowing together, but we also wanted to be able to pick the boats up and put them in the back of a small truck. That meant we each needed our own boat.
Boat - Pogo A paddle wheel boat that skims over shallow waters at 9 mph.
Bookcase, Boat Nautical This fun and relatively easy project fits almost anywhere. Its a great shelf for collectibles and books, and a conversation piece on its own. Inspired by the photograph of the old canoe bookcase below, we built our boat out of maple stock, but you may wish to embark on your project using pine, birch or oak. We wanted a traditional look that would also show off the beautiful wood grain, and chose Minwax conditioner, water-based wood stain and sealer for a finish rich in colour and quality.

Bar, Boat Shaped Be the Captain Morgan of your domain with this clever boat-shaped bar.
Boat, Pirogue - Bolger Windspirit I built my first boat, Mejor Que Nada, to fulfill a lifelong dream of building my own boat. The boat is a great sailer, especially in the light airs of my home lakes.
Boat - Dory, Eco Dories again? There are already so many of them out there. So what’s new? Nothing. But in a new combination. But let’s start from the beginning.
Boat - Micro Auray Punt This is a one sheet version of the same punt, adjusted to be made of just one sheet of plywood. As it happens, the boat scales down very nicely. The overall shape is conserved beautifully. Both length and beam are 3/4 of the original, so the L/B ratio is the same, about 2.2.
Boat - Mini Ekstock, Scandinavian Punt 17’ 8” The humblest boat in the collection is definitely boat number 11 on plate 48, the “Ekstock”. This boat is also the only one with a flat bottom, flat sides and flat transoms. Ekstock is Swedish for punt, literally “oak log”. So the boat is a traditional Scandinavian punt.
Boat - Runabout Sled, One Sheet I’m just waiting for the day when I become a grandfather. From that day on I will have a good reason to build things like this.
Boat - Sampan (One sheet) A sampan boat is typical to South East Asian countries, where many seemingly different boat types in several countries appear under the same common name. Sampan literally means “three planks”.
Boat - Simbo, The Simple One This is an easy start for boat building. A very simple made out of simple materials, using a simple construction method and just the basic tools.
Boat - Skiff 10-1/2’ This is a very nice but simple skiff, made out of two sheets of 1/4” or 3/8” plywood. This skiff is heavily based on my Portuquese Style Dinghy. I myself, and several others who have built the dinghy have been satisfied with her, so why not make a slightly larger version?
