Made using PAR pine that you will find at your nearest Builders Warehouse, this indoor seating bench is perfect for an entrance or hallway, for extra seating in a children's bedroom, or for a den / family room. Once you've made the bench you can decide the type of finishing you want; leave as natural and apply a sealer, stain it to match your existing decor, or paint with chalk paint in your choice of colour.

The indoor seating bench measures 769mm high x 634mm deep x 800mm wide. It's easy to make two benches and put these together to make a longer bench.

Our benches are made of PAR pine, but you can easily substitute with reclaimed pallet wood and use it outdoors on a patio or in the garden. If you do decide to use outdoors, apply an exterior sealer to protect from the elements.

YOU WILL NEED:

2 of 19 x 69 x 800mm PAR pine - top / front apron

9 of 19 x 94 x 800mm PAR  pine - seat / back slats

2 of 19 x 144 x 750mm PAR pine - back legs

2 of 19 x 144 x 330mm PAR pine - front legs

4 x 50mm screws

3.5 x 40mm screws

TOOLS:

Drill / Driver plus assorted bits

Orbital sander plus 120- and 240-grit sanding pads

Tape measure and pencil

HERE'S HOW:

1. Assemble the seat back as shown above. Use [2] 40mm screws to secure the planks to the front of the back legs. Space them equally over the frame with an approximate 12mm gap between each slat, allowing a gap at the bottom for fitting the seat.

2. You will need to cut a slight angle on the piece that goes on top of the back, to allow for fitting the top slat. Secure the top slat onto the back legs with [2] 50mm screws.

GOOD TO KNOW: Pre-drill countersunk pilot holes for all screws.

3. The front section of the seat is assembled as shown below. Allow a 5mm spacer between each seat slat and secure onto the base frame with [2] 30mm screws through each slat.
