Free Plans to Build a Table Inspired by Joss & Main

Earlier, I posted plans for the Banyan Coffee Table and mentioned that it was part of a collection with a couple of other pieces. As promised, here is another piece in that collection ~ free plans to build a Joss & Main inspired Banyan end table!

Like the coffee table, this features a drawer for storage and tapered legs. Quick, easy, and perfect for any decor!

Materials:

Lumber:

  • 1 – 2×2 at 8′
  • 2 – 1×2 at 8′
  • 1 – 2′ x 2′ piece of 1/2″ plywood
  • 1 – half sheet of 3/4″ plywood

Cut List:

  • 4 – 2×2 at 19-1/4″ – Legs
  • 6 – 1×2 at 16″ – Side Frames & Spacers
  • 2 – 1/2″ plywood at 3-1/2″ x 16″ – Side Panels
  • 2 – 1×2 at 14″ – Back Frame
  • 1 – 1/2″ plywood at 3-1/2″ x 14″ – Back Panel
  • 1 – 3/4″ plywood at 18″ x 20″ – Top
  • 1 – 1×2 (ripped to 1-3/8″ wide) at 13-3/4″ – Drawer Front
  • 1 – 1×2 at 13-3/4″ – Drawer Front
  • 1 – 1/2″ plywood at 3-1/2″ x 13-3/4″ – Drawer Front Panel
  • 1 – 3/4″ plywood at 11-1/2″ x 16″ – Drawer Bottom
  • 2 – 3/4″ plywood at 6-3/8″ x 16″ – Drawer Sides
  • 1 – 3/4″ plywood at 6-3/8″ x 13″ – Drawer Back

Step One

Cut the pieces for the legs. Cut the taper using a jigsaw, bandsaw, or tapering jig on a table saw.

Step Two

Cut the pieces for the side frames, side panel, and spacers. Drill pocket holes in each end of the frame pieces as well as the long edges of each panel piece. Attach the frame pieces to the panel piece using glue and 1″ pocket hole screws. The back face of the panel will be flush with the back face of the frame pieces. Attach the panel assemblies to the legs using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws. Attach the spacers using glue and countersunk 1-1/4″ screws.

Step Three

Cut the pieces for the back frame and panel. Assemble in the same manner as the sides. Attach to the legs using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws.

Step Four

Cut the piece for the top. It will overlap the frame and legs by 1/2″ on all sides. Use glue and 1-1/4″ brads to secure.

Step Five

Cut the pieces for the drawer fronts. Note that the upper frame piece will be 1/8″ narrower than the lower frame piece. Drill pocket holes in the long edges of the 1/2″ piece only. Assemble in the same manner as the sides and back.

Step Six

Cut the pieces for the drawer box. Drill pocket holes in each end of the side pieces as well as all four edges of the bottom. Attach the sides to the bottom using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws, then attach the front and back. The drawer front will be 3/4″ wider than the drawer box.

Install the drawer slides according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This easy tutorial on installing drawer slides will be helpful! Make any necessary adjustments.
